It’s a sunny Friday and we’ve had a great week. We’ve picked up a Travvie and a Hollis for Visit Wales and Nivea For Men respectively.

We Want You Piers Bramhall is Visit Wales’ most recent campaign and features the Welsh nation inviting one man – that’s our Piers – to have a proper holiday, in Wales.  The integrated TV campaign won Gold for Best Integrated at the Travel Marketing Awards or as it’s fondly known, The Travvies; the most recognised awards in the Travel Industry.

Meanwhile branded entertainment, The Great Football Experiment with Nivea For Men won a Hollis Sponsorship Award for Best Digital Activation in a Sponsorship Campaign. Nivea for Men wanted to show that preparation was everything so we found the worst Sunday league pub football team in the country and gave them the England Squad treatment. The series, which ran online, received over 2.8 million views and 45000+ facebook likes.

Our creative director will be on a panel with Arcade Fire director Vincent Morisset where they will be discussing…

THE NEW CREATIVE CANVAS – WHAT WEB CULTURE AND TECH CAN DO FOR STORYTELLING

It should be fun. If you’re there, don’t be shy, put up your hand and ask them a really awkward question about what the future of storytelling looks like, whether the world is going to end in December and what on earth is the point of this thing we call life. Actually, maybe just stick to the storytelling bit.

  • Bigballs is Fishing For Trouble with Channel 4

The bravest Ballers headed out to the World’s newest nation South Sudan a few weeks ago alongside award winning war reporter and Time Magazine, Africa Bureau Chief Alex Perry to shoot a broadcast pilot for ‘Fishing For Trouble’, a show that will uncover the fascinating characters and stories in some of the World’s most unstable countries.

There’s real method to the madness though – it’s a little known fact that the biggest fish in the world, are found in the most dangerous places, because, as you’d expect, people often have other things on their mind.

The filming covered a range of locations, including The Sudd, one of the world’s largest wetlands and one of the last uncharted places on the planet and the aim is for the series to move to other platforms if a series is commissioned.

Here’s a nice little quote from the commissioner Sara Ramsden,

“Bigballs Films has brought one of the world’s leading Africa experts to work at Channel 4. As Alex Perry fishes for tiger fish, the scariest fish in the world, in the newest country in the world, we are very excited about this innovative new way to look at stories in Africa from a fresh angle.”
