Nice bit of recognition from BAFTA for 18 months of incredibly hard work by the teams at Bigballs and We R Interactive. We now have 1.5m + installs of the game, 600,000 active monthly users, brilliantly integrated brands in Nike, Red Bull, Alfa Romeo and Ginsters with more to come, and an incredible platform which we can build a whole range of new games, starting with our first music game which launches in the next couple of months.

Exciting news at Bigballs towers as Andrew Conrad joins at a key point in our growth bringing with him over 20 years experience in television, first as a founder of Princess Productions, then as MD of Jamie Oliver’s production company Fresh One and most recently as MD of Betty who were recently sold to Discovery Networks.

Bigballs Messi in London work features in latest adidas ad

We were pretty chuffed to see the latest adidas spot full of our work from last year, especially since it racked up over 1m views in the first 24 hours. Our Cannes Lion award winning ‘The Messiah’ work kicks off the new advert that has been produced to celebrate Leo Messi’s 3rd straight World Player of the Year award. We Want Piers Bramhall – the round up

Earlier this year we worked with our friends at agency Wieden + Kennedy on a brilliant campaign for Visit Wales. It was another lunatic project that kicked off with us secretly casting a 30 year old guy whose girlfriend struggled to get him off his Spanish sunlounger and onto a proper holiday, then rocketing around Wales, filming over 150 films in a little over a month, creating a series of 10″ TV spots, before embarking on a real-time holiday around Wales, with Piers and his girlfriend Emma.

The main TV spot is out in Jan, but until then, check out this little round up of our Welsh adventure.

Kutiman collaboration – teaser film launches

Earlier this year we engaged in a unique collaboration with music artist and YouTube mashup supremo Kutiman as part of the Vision Sound Music event. We sent BB director Pedro De La Fuente and DOP Matty Lambert, out to meet Kuti in his native Israel, to make a documentary film around the theme “Freedom Is…” with musicians, artists and people living on both sides of the West Bank.

We created a tumblr page – http://this-is-freedom.tumblr.com and created the Twitter hashtag #freedom is, creating a call to action to the wider web community. The aim of the project was to create a number of things…

First up was this short film that uncovers a little bit more about this extraordinary man.

Next up we’ll be releasing a film that is the combination of both Pedro’s filmmaking talent and Kuti’s mashup skills.

That film is currently being cut and will be released in the next couple of months.

Success for The Nivea For Men Great Football Experiment

For the last 9 months we’ve been charting the progress of one of Britain’s worst football teams as they took part in The Great Football Experiment, a project sponsored by Nivea For Men. With Nivea’s relationship with the FA and the England set up, we brought true professionalism to Ivory FC, a lovely bunch of Essex boys, who were more interested in pints than points. We cast the team through a bespoke Facebook app, and the content was then distributed through social networks and YouTube.

When we first met the boys they were bottom of the league and hadn’t scored a goal… as we leave them, they’re second from top, have just beaten a team of England Legends and are not just fitter and happier on the pitch, but off it too.

Lots of very exciting social gaming news in the next few months from Bigballs and WE R Interactive. Not only is I AM PLAYR going from strength to strength – we recently sold the 1,000,000th can of virtual Red Bull and are adding record amounts of users every week, we’re also getting set to launch I AM STAR, which will hopefully do for the music industry what PLAYR is doing for football. As part of the next stage another big name has joined the team – Geoff Heath, the founder of Activision (Call Of Duty) and the man who sold Michael Jackson The Beatles back catalogue. I AM PLAYR 2.0 is here…

About six months ago we launched the BETA version of our first social game – I AM PLAYR – a first person perspective game you can play on Facebook and other social networks that is sponsored by Nike, Red Bull, Alfa Romeo and Ginsters. Now after an immense amount of late nights, weekends in the office, conversations with the audience and feedback from all manner of people, version 2.0 is ready to go, and it’s killer.

From tomorrow (4th October) the new game arrives – it’s been completely redesigned, reworked and amped in just 6 weeks, which is a testament to the development team downstairs at We R Interactive our sister company.

With a whole new bunch of content about to be shot for season 2 and clever new ways to keep players always active, we’re massively excited about what the next few months hold.
